The Center for Research and Development of Digital Libraries (CRADLE) is a federation of parties interested in the migration, management, and accessibility of digital information. We serve as a test bed for the development of digital libraries, while focusing on the training and education of digital librarians. We act as the incubator and the risk taker, to develop novel methodologies for digital libraries. We are the resource where people go to learn how to create and manage digital libraries, to locate research on digital libraries, to access public domain digital library software, as well as to gain a general understanding of digital libraries. We serve to preserve and archive digital resources of value to UNC and the state of NC, and to migrate them to university production library environments. We collaborate with other academic units, companies and organizations.
