This grant studies the information used, and the workflows of bioinformatics research laboratories on campus. The end goal is to develop a common data model that will serve as a framework for all laboratories on campus. Surveys and interviews are being used to understand individual researchers and complete research laboratories. The results are being developed into database designs that will support the needs of researchers on campus, and potentially researchers worldwide. Extensive use is made of existing standards. An additional GRA slot is potential available to a graduate student with expertise in systems modeling and databases.
