SILS, Health Sciences Library and the Carolina Center for Genome
Sciences support a training program for developing Informatics
librarians. Fellowships are awarded to masters students (LS and IS)
who are interested in gaining librarian skills and experience
related to bioinformatics. Students are given positions in the
Health Sciences library (HSL) and work directly under the
supervision of the HSL bioinformatics staff. This program is one of
the few such programs in library schools nationwide and offers an
excellent opportunity to train for specialist positions related to
bioinformatics and the health and hard sciences. Bioinformatics
fellowships are awarded on an annual basis and carry a stipend of
$10,000 for the combined fall and spring semesters.
