  1. Alberta — The minimum is 3 credits for a course at a cost of $390.36/course for graduates in Canada.
  2. California – Los Angeles — For a 2-year program.
  3. Catholic — Does not have in-state and out-of-state tuition. The data reported were for full and part-time students earning their degrees on the main campus or from one of the off-campus sites. Assuming a constant tuition rate, the costs for part time students on and off-campus would be: $25,258 [on campus], and $18,985 [off-campus].
  4. Clark Atlanta — Did not report tuition and fees for out-of-state students. As a private institution, it was assumed that out-of-state students will pay the same amount of tuition and fees as do in-state students.
  5. Kentucky — Graduate students may take as few as 9 credit hours or as many as 15 credit hours and pay the one amount of tuition and fees for full-time enrollment. Fall 1998 the amount is $1,638 for in-state residents and $4,578 for out-of-state residents. To arrive at the reported figures for total cost of a degree – 36 credit hours in our case – a student is assumed to be enrolled full-time for 12 credit hours per semester, and would do that for 3 semesters.
  6. Louisiana State — Fall 1998 full-time tuition and mandatory fees assumes 3 semesters and 1 summer term for MLIS.
  7. McGill — For international students: Full degree = $13,328; One credit = $276.
  8. Michigan — Value for one credit = full degree rate divided by 48 credit hours. Part-time students less than 8 credit hours assessed as in-state $818 first credit hour and $524 each additional hour and out-of-state $1,390 first credit hour and $1,096 each additional hour.
  9. Oklahoma — The amounts for the full degree were derived by multiplying times 36 the amount students must pay for basic tuition plus student activity, library resources, connectivity, and College of Arts and Sciences computer fees (charged per credit hour) and health, facility, and academic records fees (charged by semester). One credit hour calculations are the amounts charged for one credit hour of tuition for the fall 1998 semester.
  10. Rhode Island — For regional: Full degree = $9,283 [out-of-state]; One credit = $287 [out-of-state].
  11. South Carolina — In-state = $193 x 30; Out-of-state = $404 x 30.
  12. Southern Connecticut — In-state: $4,118 for academic year plus 6 credits summer session $1,008 = 36-credit program. Out-of-state: $9,603 for academic year plus 6 credits summer session $1,008 = 36-credit program.
  13. Texas — In-state tuition = $108 per credit hour with minimum of $120 + $36 per credit hour.
  14. Toronto — Based on two sessions.
  15. Wayne State — Based upon one-year completion. Registration fee charged each semester.
  16. Wisconsin – Madison — For Minnesota residents: $2,401.75.
  17. Excludes British Columbia and Dalhousie.
